Serra do Cachimbo Military Base, Pará state, Amazon Rainforest region, northern Brasil - August 5, 2020:
IBAMA (Brazilian Institute for Environment Protection) agents prepare for an operation to destroy illegal gold mining sites in Amazon Basin. The operation was lately cancelled by Brazil's former minister of Environment, Mr. Ricardo Salles, when he still was a Minister.
Mr. Salles was a kind of a supporter for those miners that he used to call 'legalized workers'.
Few months later, Mr. Salles was fired from the government, but the illegal mining sites are still destroying Amazon Basin rivers. Photo and text by Caio Guatelli
