Heliopolis, one of Brazil’s largest slum (second only to Rio de Janeiro’s Rocinha), is turning vertical . With a total population reaching 220 thousand people, and no more available land to grow, the slum is becoming a high density building conglomerate —all of them illegal, built without the approval or supervision of São Paulo’s government. None of them have engineering project nor a deed.
